The Cornish Epilogue - a tribute to John Vaughan
On Thursday 21 June 2012, I was hugely honoured to be invited by John Vaughan, a railway photographer I have known and admired for many years, to join him on a private charter train in Cornwall, to celebrate the launch of his latest (and last book), Cornwall's Railways. I was lucky to have got to know John in the later 1970s through his RPPR railtours, and through his friendship, went with colleagues on many photographic trips. I'm happy to admit that I learned much of my skill with a camera from John, and I regard him as one of, if not the, finest railway photographers of recent times. In true Cornish fashion, the middle of Summer in the county was marked by torrential rain all day, but the hospitality of the Bodmin & Wenford Railway shone through the murk, and an absolutely fantastic time was had by everyone. These are a selection of the shots from the day. Thank you John - you were, and remain, a true inspiration!
