Some leave to use up and the possibility of some reasonable weather. My choice was to revisit the Isle of Wight. There is no finer way to get there than the hovercraft from Portsmouth (Southsea). Only 10 mins for the crossing and the distinction of travelling on the only scheduled passenger hovercraft service in the world! Having arrived on the island, the rail service is provided by ex-London Transport 1938 stock. In the winter season, just two 2-car formations provided the service, but with the combined hovercraft and train ticket allowing unlimited trips for the day, lots of opportunities for images were possible.
